What is Trackara?
Trackara is a maintenance and project app for people who actually work on their cars. Log services, plan jobs, track parts and expenses, set reminders, and pair a Bluetooth OBD2 scanner for live diagnostics. Runs on iPhone, iPad, and Android. One account covers every vehicle in the garage.
How does the OBD2 integration work?
Pair any ELM327-compatible Bluetooth dongle. Trackara reads fault codes, freeze-frame data, and live sensor values (RPM, coolant temp, fuel trims, throttle position) straight from the ECU. You can attach a scan to a vehicle, clear codes after the repair, and keep a timestamped history. Works on any 1996+ US or 2001+ EU vehicle with the standard 16-pin OBD2 port (usually under the dash on the driver's side).
How does the Task Planner work?
Type what you're doing ("rear brake pads on the F-150") and Trackara turns it into a checklist with the tools, parts, and torque specs you'll want on hand. Break a job into steps, check them off as you go, and pick it back up next weekend without losing your place. Each task can hold parts, costs, photos, and notes, and you can reuse your own templates across vehicles.
Can I track expenses and parts costs?
Yes. Every task and maintenance entry takes line items for parts, labor, consumables, and shop fees, plus vendor name, date, and receipt notes. Totals roll up per vehicle and per project, so you can see what the build actually cost when it's done. Useful for insurance, resale, or just knowing how deep you are into the Mustang.
How do service reminders work?
Set reminders by mileage, by date, or both (whichever hits first). Example: oil at every 5,000 miles or 6 months. Trackara pushes a notification when something's due or overdue. Reminders are attached to specific vehicles, so the truck and the project car keep their own schedules. Snooze or reschedule from the notification.
Is my vehicle data private?
Yes. Maintenance records, expense logs, scans, and project notes stay in your private account. We don't sell user data and we don't run ads. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Export or delete everything from the account settings, anytime.
Do I need an account or internet connection?
An account is required so your data syncs across devices and gets backed up. Most things work offline though: logging maintenance, adding tasks, recording expenses, and OBD2 scanning over Bluetooth all run without signal. Changes sync the next time you're online. Only cloud sync and sharing actually need a connection.
What happens to my data if I cancel my subscription?
You keep read-only access to your history through the end of your billing period. You can export everything in a standard format at any time. We don't delete your data on cancellation; you have 90 days to export or resubscribe before anything is archived. If you delete the account itself, everything is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days, per the
Privacy Policy.
How much does Trackara cost?
$3.99/month or $29.99/year (works out to about $2.50/month, saving 37%). Every feature is included: unlimited vehicles, OBD2 over Bluetooth, the task planner, reminders, and expenses & budgets. No tiers, no per-vehicle charges, no paywalls. Same price on iOS and Android. See the
pricing section for details.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed wherever you signed up. On iOS: Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions → Trackara → Cancel. On Android: Play Store → profile icon → Payments & Subscriptions → Subscriptions → Trackara → Cancel. You keep Pro access through the end of the current billing period. We don't handle billing directly, so refunds go through Apple or Google.
What types of vehicles does Trackara support?
Anything with a VIN. Cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides, RVs, classics, race cars, custom builds. Create a profile with whatever details apply. OBD2 scanning needs a 1996+ (US) or 2001+ (EU) vehicle with the standard 16-pin port. Pre-OBD2 cars still get every other feature, just with manual logging.
Is Trackara useful for classic car restorations?
Yes. Document a frame-off rebuild with phase timelines, attach photos at each stage, and log every part sourced (vendor, part number, cost). The restoration summary doubles as a provenance record for insurance, concours judging, or resale. Plenty of collectors use Trackara as a digital build bible that stays with the car.
Can professional mechanics use Trackara?
Yes, mechanics use Trackara for diagnostics and documentation: scan on arrival, log findings, complete the repair, scan again to confirm. Notes, parts lists, and photos all attach to the service entry. If you're running a mobile mechanic business and need invoices, work orders, client management, and IRS-compliant mileage, look at
Trackara Pro.
Can I track a fleet of vehicles?
Trackara has no vehicle cap on a single account, so it works for small fleets, delivery operations, rideshare owners, and any business with a handful of company vehicles. Each unit gets its own profile, schedule, mileage reminders, and cost totals. The dashboard shows what's due, what's overdue, and total maintenance spend across the fleet.
Does Trackara work for motorcycles and RVs?
Yes. Motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides, RVs, and powersports are all supported. Set custom intervals for bike-specific work like chain lube, tire pressure, valve clearance checks, or seasonal winterization. RV owners track generator hours, slide-out servicing, roof inspections, and appliances alongside the engine and drivetrain. If the vehicle has a standard OBD2 port, the scanner works the same as on a car.
Can I track restoration costs over multiple years?
Yes. Expense tracking is built for long projects. Every entry is timestamped and categorized (parts, labor, paint, fabrication, etc.) and the running total stays current for the life of the build. Filter by date, category, or phase to see what each stage actually cost. Annual and lifetime summaries are one tap away. Useful for insurance and for any future buyer asking what's in the car.
